Obsession with Fate

How weird it is
How silly people are
To fuss about small things
When they are in love
The unnoticed brushing of hands
The same color of clothes
The mere fact that they are in the same room
Every detail is absorbed into laminated memory
Frame by frame like a moving camera
I used to wonder
But now i know
The accidental stares
Passing by in places
Coincidence?
I silently wish
My luck would continue
But then it stopped
I no longer see you outside the classroom
We no longer unnoticably wear the same color of shirt
Somehow I’ve lost you
And I said to myself
That you’re not worth it afterall
How weird it is
How silly people are
To let their little obsession with fate fade away
When it is getting exciting day by day
But somehow, chance closes the door
You stop and learn
That you’ve lost your turn

It is all but a game, isn’t it?

On a Grey Flat Floor

On the grey flat floor there is a dog
A little puppy with tabby-like fur
He stands there in the middle, wagging his tail
His cute ears drooping on his face

On the grey flat floor there is a dog
A very tiny puppy I’d like to hold
He stands there, stationary
Caring not about the people walking to and fro

On the grey flat floor there is a dog
A very cute puppy with teary eyes
He doesn’t bark, he doesn’t bite
Yet he stares demurely at the passersby

On the grey flat floor there is a dog
A quiet puppy with adorable looks
I took out my glasses and stared back down
It is not a dog afterall, but a patch on the ground. ;p

Well my life goes on in this virtual prison of UP…to think of it, it is not a prison but a mecca for misfits like me…….. And no other university will replace it.

One of my profs read to us, a part of Roman’s (the new UP president) speech from her inauguration last week…she described the festivities during the lantern parade (when she was still chancellor of diliman)…the babaylan parading as beauty queens, stand-up protesting as usual and other antics you’ll never see outside UP. And one of her colleagues said, "This is your school…" (i think it was more of a negative comment) and she answered something like, "I know. Isn’t it exciting?!" :) She promotes the uniqueness of UP and I think she’s the one UP is looking for all of these years…we don’t want somebody who will bend us into an image of generic and mediocre students. We are what we are. And that’s what makes us truly UP. :)

Well about my social life…I have none…but I’m happy with what I have now. I have friends but I don’t have a social life. How queer…but that’s how things are in my life…

DLA batchmates…I miss you all…lalo na yung mga pasaway na tulad ko…

angst and pain

Monday, July 25th, 2005

In the middle of angst sometimes we cry
We break down to the cruelties of this world
We look at the horizon and see nothing
We are lost

Outside the window, hail drops from the sky
We sigh and breathe deeply
There is nothing to be done
And nothing to learn

Sounds of dripping, dropping
We close our eyes in pain

I’m so guilty that I’m not able to maintain writing blog entries every week…there’s just no time…I haven’t even written in my diary for weeks!!!

I feel so awful coz I’ll probably forget all those precious memories…

Anyway all I can say right now is that I’m currently applying for an org - UJP-UP or Union of Journalists of the Philippines, UP Chapter…And I’ll make sure that I won’t be deferred.

So a while ago I was at mcdo having breakfast with my old highschool buddies. I so miss them badly. It’s just so different in college and I realized that when I’m with them I feel at ease. You can say anything, do anything…

Ha!! And I learned what the whole names of Buddy en Sol is!!! Now I can have the signature of Kuya Lawrence for my sigsheet in UJP. By a strike of luck, yesterday I came across the schedule of Pinoy LunchBoxoffice of Studio 23 and saw that today is the showing of Buddy en Sol. What a "co-accident" as JC once told me…

And I just finished hearing GMA’s SONA…short isn’t it? And everyone was clapping. Charter change? Why? My dad said she’s just distracting us from the impeachment issue. I think she’s putting the blame on the political system…but I applaude her literary attemp at the SONA..the story of 2 countries with the same name is quite appalling…That’s all for now I guess…I’ll be leaving for UP in a couple of hours…What had happened in the rally? I really wish I was just there at UP to be more closer to what is happening on the streets…

Tine with an E, now signing off!

So whats next…

Now that I have survived 1 MONTH!!!! (oopss erase all the exclamation point, we mere mortals are only allowed to use 15 or something exclamation points in our entire life according to some writer…said my CW prof) I’d have to decide what to do next…

In the vastness of our campus (i am to believe that we are a republic country separate from the Philippines) there are a lot of opportunities and orgs lurking around in corners and luscious grassland and trees…

At first I really really really wanted to get into kule (philippine collegian, the campus’ official newsprint) but i dared not to continue although i already submitted my portfolio….its because it involves too much commitment and i might not be able to cope up with my studies….

Well I joined AME (anime manga enthusiasts) but i regret that because again, it is a hindrance to my studies…Now I’m hoping that I’ll be able to join UJP-UP and Tinig ng Plaridel (newsprint of CMC). I realized that writing IS my no.1 priority…

Anywayz, that’s all for now coz…I have a lot to do. Im still uploading the website I designed for my uncle and in just a few hours I’ll be going back to diliman. Ciao!

SURVIVING UP

I can’t believe that I endured a month in UP. Anyways, all is well in our BH. We actually all get along.  I used to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, nowadays 5am, I am always the 4th who uses the bathroom. But ofcourse we have 2 CRs so no fuss about that.

Then I eat my petty breakfast as I complete my outfit for the day…that’s the problem in having no uniform, you must have tons of clothes or atleast be creatful. Well it has been 3 weeks and I haven’t repeated a single outfit. Yipee! But I know I’d have to one day.

During Mondays and thurs we ride the ikot to our buildings. Mhy and Rose stops by at NIGS and just walk to the Math building because tokis are so scarce. While my first subj is just next door, College of Science.

My subjects are pretty ok. Natsci2 and Archaeology are both interesting (that’s why I took them) while Math2 and Kas1 are pretty ok. They say I’m lucky coz I got Sir Tantoco coz he is notorious for giving most of his students a grade of 1. I’m pretty happy about that but I’m not satisfied with the discussion. Ma’am Caring is ok too. She cracks few jokes but I hate it that we have an assignment every meeting. And she gives very low grades. My highest would be 1.5 nd lowest is 2. She’s so strict when it gets to written exercises though she never tells us what’s wrong and you’d just be surprised when you get that score. My fave is Creative Writing 10. besides that Sir Manalo is a renowned professor, I really love writing. Actually Creative writing should’ve been my course but I chose the more practical one which is journalism. I love reciting in class. I hope all my profs already know my name.

ROOKIE FAIR

I’ve already met a lot of people, already have some crushes. Hehe…. But ofcourse my blockmates would be like my barkada now. Last Wednesday we attended the rookie camp. I think you could’ve heard about it if you were tuned in to 99.5 on that day. We had our block pic at the sunken garden, tired the other boots. The we all had lunch together which was fun coz we get to bond with each other. The ones present are Missy (blockhead). Vienna (blocktail), Dyan, Reg, Laurice, Coeli, JM (Tuazon), Matt, Lennen, Emman, Carlos…I think that’s it. After that we went to Vienna’s BH and I think we just talked and talked for 2 ½ hours, exchanging stories. When we got back the henna tattoo booth was already closed to registration =( Then the others left. We just sat on the field until we decided to sen a shoutout that said: hello to all K^ members specially to those people who already left and didn’t come.

Good thing we saw Lennen (he left us after lunch) so we played a game of cards in the middle of the sunken. Then we kept sending greetings to the DJ. He even waved at us. Hehe… After the 1st game of cards we gave a shoutout to be announced on air. It said: “Congratulations to Lennen for losing a game of monkey-monkey in the middle of Sunken. Sikat ka!” Then I lost in the 2nd game and the DJ read our greeting: “Magshift na kayo sa Journ! The best ang Journ! Papansin talaga ang K6!” Hehe…it was so fun.

CMC FIRST NIGHT FUNK

I forgot to write about last week. Last week, Tuesday, our college (CMC-College of MassCom) held an org fair and concert. The first band was Giniling festival. We were at shock at first when we heard the lyrics of their songs but once the upperclassmen started cheering and singing we got the hang of it and was LSS with the song Siniling Giniling until the next day. Then it was Slowdive’s turn (I later found out that the vocalist was Justine’s schoolmate). The vocalist was very good and quite pretty too.It was just a shame when it started raining and we all needed to get inside the building. A couple of days later Ate Eliza said it was because the upperclassmen didn’t expect a lot to come that’s why thay thought it’s ok that the concert was at the parking lot and if it rains they can continue it inside. But since we were crammed we just all went home.

And for the finale….

FRESHTEEEEEEEEEEG

FOPC CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was just last night that I went to my first wild concert. I wore my fishnet outfit (the one I wore at the last Xmas party). Me and my boardmates were already late when we got ther (Bahay ng Alumni). There were so many people! And the line was soooooo long. Good thing my Blockmates were already there so I just slipped into their line (they were at the start!! Hehe) and my boardmates slipped in with Justine’s buddies. At first we were all seated at the floor. Chico and Delamar were the MCs. Slowdive was the opening number – the instruments were too loud and the vocalist’s voice couldn’t be heard. Then Candyaudioline played…a little sleepy… When Giniling Festival came on stage they wanted us to stand up. So we did! And Vienna, Matt (and his friend), Dyan (and her friend) made our way to the front. We shouted crazily the lyrics of Siling Giniling. It was funny coz most of the people didn’t know who they are. And we kept shouting “Jeje!” – the bassplayer’s name. And that was the beginning of a crazy night. 6cyclemin was there, sandwich, kjwan (the vocalist stage dived, which was so cool, we were already at the 2nd row by then), cambio (these bands are not in order ok), mojofly (my fave), Mongols (cool music), kitchie nadal (matt and I were already at the front by that time, Vienna got separated), sugarfree (the best voice I ever heard), moonstar 88, sessionroad, imago (the vocalist was very energetic, she kept on dancing, very amped up), kamikaze (one of the craziest lead singer I ever saw but I actually liked him…he’s uber ok but a little crazy hehe), parokya (this was the time that we realized that there were already outsiders that got inside, there was a wild moshpit so the FOPC and some students like us that were in front made a barricade, the guys in the back just kept pushing and pushing and I got really pissed off I kicked the guy behind me coz he wouldn’t stop elbowing us in front) then hale (atlast the band I was waiting for came, but I didn’t enjoy it that much because of the outsiders…I think they performed real great and I got to see Champ real near, he really does look like Atom). After all those performances there were still others like MYMP, Mayonaisse, Spongecola, etc. it was already 1am in the morning and Matt and I were already tired, not mentioning, soaking wet (in sweat and water because there were sprinklers, and oh by the way I’d have to thank that guy from FOPC who shared me his water-was I drained or what) All in all I got squished by the people, I almost fell headfirst in front because of the pushing, I was soaking wet including my bag, I was deaf for a while and I think I look totally disheveled. But it was worth it ü. Ofcourse I thank Matt hehe!! Hope you’d red this for not letting me fall to the ground when those blasted people kept pushing. Sayang nga coz Reg wasn’t able to join us. She was at the back and I don’t think she’d be able to find us.

Whe Matt and I decided to go home we were shocked to see the situation at the back. The floor was so wet, and dirty and people were standing just listening (unlike us at the front shouting, singing, and jumping-or was it just me?) well the back part was a mess and outside the building were so many people.

So I went to the Film center where my parents were parked. I could still hear MYMP playing. Sigh…I won’t be able to see mayonnaise perform. But atleast I saw some of my favorite bands. As we were going back to the BH I saw my boardmates walking so we let them hitch. I went to our room, changed clothes and went home where I slept so peacefully…away from the harsh and crazy world of moshpits, stage dives and very very loud rock music… But as I had said…it was all worth while. ü
